Arrival 2/2

Hey guys,

I try to write in english, because I also have many american friends. My first days here were great. Not just great, they were better than I thought. I thought the start would be hard, I wouldn't know anybody and I would be shy because I'm so far away from my home. Actually it's not like that.
So let's start with Friday. I left New York by plane and arrived Rochester about an hour later. This plane was the smallest I ever flew with. It had a one-seat row, a walkway and another two-seat row. You couldn't even stand in it. After arriving Rochester I had like a little Arrival Orientation. I met some other exchange students and AFS people there. Then, the next morning, my mom picked me up. I was so excited but - and I don't know why - I already felt comfortable. Usually I'm like shy and reserved when I'm new. But since I'm here, I'm the opposite. (Which is great, because it makes everything so much easier)
I also went to church with my family. After that I was introduced to some parents and also children. And in the evening I already was invited to my first pool party here!
That day I also met my grandparents at one of the Fingerlakes. (5 lakes, that look like fingers) They were so nice! I enjoyed this day so much. We had nice weather - quite hot and I jetskied for my first time. Then we had a BBQ and we made some s'mores after that. Oh holy cow, they were AWESOME. It's like a marshmallow sandwich, made of cookies, chocolate and a grilled marshmallow.
And because I don't wanna gain weight I play volleyball. The practise starts before school starts. Because as soon as the school starts, we have games to play. So I joined the team yesterday. My first practise was so hard. It's always about four hours which is so exhausting because it's so hot here. But the girls are great. And what else should I say than: I love America!

Arrival 1/2

Mein Flug ging so gegen 10:50.
Just beautiful.
#vorfreude
Morgen lande ich dann in Rochester... Was mich da genau erwartet... Naja, AFS ist sehr spontan.

Liebe Grüße aus New York
